Great excitement as the auditions are held and the cast list is posted, Cinderella kids is a reality. Lines are learned, choreography is paced and danced, voices are fine tuned, costumes sewn, the set painted and quietly in the background grade 4 are creating proposals for cast footwear. Not to actually wear but to be the display outside the theatre.
Unit of Inquiry – who we are, began with artwork that explored the students; their characteristics, their hobbies, their motivations. We then left ourselves and dived into the characters of others, namely Cinderella, the ugly sister, the fairy godmother, town criers and the all-important mice. After brainstorming characteristic traits the students linked each to the elements of art and symbols that most represented them. And then the creation of elegant, ugly, practical and downright cute footwear began.
