Inquiring into the work of Marcel du Champ and Louise Nevelson was a great start for our students, inspiring them to throw all their energies into researching, collecting and creating.
We hit a lot of problems and the learning curve was steep. Beautiful robots could be made from plastic bottles but how to fix them together. How to paint cardboard boxes and yes a hot glue gun is hot.
An off shoot of this project is that I now have a permanent recycling depo outside my classroom. Each morning families come and recycle clean trash. Over the next few months the arts department are planning a whole school art project and exhibition with everything made from junk which we have collected and reused. More soon
