The colour, the mess, the dangerous tools
I like the students to inquire themselves and it is always great to see the ripples of discovery spread around the room as the rotate the stamps, overlap stamps and begin to mix and blend colours.

Due to the messy and potential danger of making the stamp I like to teach one skill at a time and then send the students off for 15 minutes to begin before calling them back to teach them another skill.
Draw design on stamp
Gouge out the rubber
Practice print and adjustment of gouging
They enjoyed learning the word gouge and trying to pronounce it.
