On the completion of TISA's (The International School of Baku) gymnasium, the P.E. department approached me to explore the possibility of creating a mural in the new building. P7 and M1 students worked on a design for the mural with the local artist Bahram Khalilov exploring colour, materials and techniques. Two of their designs recently won prizes at the Baku Art Academy student art competition.
(See the blog below).
The design idea that was chosen was to create a mosaic-like artwork of sports people along the central wall.
This week Ms. Niki and Ms. Gunel have drawn outlines on the wall and organized the necessary resources. For primary school students during the week of the 8th to 12th of June many visual arts classes will focus on completing the mural. Please come to TISA 5 to see our progress.
More photos and information next week.
We worked with multiple silhouette outlines to create our mosaic style sports images.
The visual plan
Projecting silhouettes onto the wall to trace around. This was surprisingly fast to do, about 3 hours. We checked size and distance with a ruler
