Cover the table with a plastic sheet, towel and bubble wrap, it creates a rough texture for more friction and matting of the fibres. Lay out 3 layers of wool, horizontally, diagonally, horizontally. use different colours and types of wool, material threads to create a design.
I normally rotate and rub the fibres for half an hour. I then bundle it all together and put it in the washing machine for three spin cycles and a wash cycle. The material is then ready to cut. I have been working on creating slippers. Here are the cut out templates ready to sew.
Then sew together, embroider, add beads and other embellishments to the final slippers. Here are a couple of pairs I made this week. I embroidered Celtic spirals onto the tartan felt slippers.
